This Privacy Policy explains how the NotepadXtreme application and this website handle information. NotepadXtreme is committed to keeping your data private.

The NotepadXtreme application

• Your files stay on your devices. Documents you open or create are stored on your own device, and the app collects no analytics about how you use it. Your notes leave your device only if you turn on encrypted sync, below.
• Local history is stored on your device only.
• Cross-device sync is optional and, when enabled, writes session data to a cloud folder that you choose and control (such as iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive). It never passes through NotepadXtreme, and we receive none of this data.
• Encrypted sync across devices (Pro, optional) keeps your notes in step between your computers and phones through our server. Everything is encrypted on your device with a key that only your devices hold, backed up by a 24-word recovery phrase you write down. Our server stores only the encrypted data with its size and times, device ids and each device's type, and an account id derived one-way from the email on your licence (a phone signs in with your licence key, which is checked against a fingerprint and never stored); it cannot read your notes, their names, your device names or your settings. If you also turn on Sync AI settings, your AI provider, model and API keys travel the same encrypted way. Removing a phone signs it out at once and its record is deleted after 60 days, and Delete synced data in Settings erases your notes from our server.
• AI features are optional. When used, your prompt and the selected text are sent directly to the AI provider you configure, using your own API key, which is stored on your device. NotepadXtreme does not proxy or log these requests.
• Pro and Enterprise licences check in with our licence server when the app is online, so that each licence is used on no more than 3 computers per person and a key that leaks or is refunded can be switched off. Activation needs the internet once, and the app confirms the licence at least once every 30 days. The check-in sends a one-way fingerprint of the key (never the key itself), a one-way hash of your computer's system identifier (never the identifier itself), the app version, and the country our server sees the request come from. It contains nothing about you, your files, or what you do in the app. The free editor never sends it.
• Payments are handled by Paddle (worldwide, in USD and other currencies) or PhonePe (in India, in rupees). We never see or store your card or bank details; we receive your email address and what you bought, to send and manage your licence.
• Live chat on this site is provided by tawk.to. It loads only if you choose "Chat with us"; what you type in the chat, and the page you were on, are sent to tawk.to so we can reply.

This website

This website uses the following third-party services:

• Google Analytics to understand aggregate, anonymized traffic (pages viewed, approximate region, device type). This site also shows ads via Google AdSense — the NotepadXtreme app itself never shows ads. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Cookies

This site stores a small local preference for your chosen light/dark theme. Analytics and advertising cookies are set by the third-party services above.

Advertising

This website shows ads served by Google AdSense to keep NotepadXtreme free. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings. The NotepadXtreme app itself contains no ads.

Your rights

Apart from the licence check-in and, if you turn it on, encrypted sync described above, the application collects no personal data. You can delete your synced notes from our server at any time from Settings → Sync across devices → Delete synced data; to have your device list and sync account record removed as well, contact us. If you hold a Pro licence and want its record removed, contact us. For website analytics and advertising, you may control cookies through your browser settings and the opt-out links above.
